15 Years – an award winning film by Katie Mayhew & David Plummer

About 15 Years

Cameraman David Plummer sheds a deeply personal light on living with Parkinson’s disease.

David Plummer has been a professional wildlife stills photographer for over 25 years and was diagnosed at age 39 with Parkinson’s disease. David has never surrendered to the degenerative disease, and has continued to push his career to higher levels. In this moving and inspirational film, David opens the viewer’s eyes on the effects of the devastating disease and how he adapts to continue in a creative and competitive industry

It was an absolute pleasure to be part of such an important and powerful film festival. Very proud for our film 15 Years to have been awarded the Golden Winged Grand Prize.

About the camera woman and director, Katie Mayhew

Katie started out her career with one of the worlds leading companies in Natural History Filmmaking, Silverback Films. Working for them for five years, she worked and learned from some of the best cinematographers and producers there are in wildlife Film and TV.

While working for Silverback she, filmed and assisted on multiple award winning productions for the BBC, Netflix and Disney Nature. These productions took her to various remote and tricky environments across the world from working on Rasa, an uninhabited island of the coast Mexico for a month with no facilities or shade, to capturing forest fires in California where things got a little hairy and the crew had to run through fire to escape the enclosing wall of flamesAll these experiences working in different environments with a variety of equipment and wildlife in often difficult circumstances, allowed Katie to build the skill base and reputation to start my journey as a freelancer with her company Under The Oak Films.
